3/24/06 The Nomad World Pub:
Desdamona with Keston & Westdal
Not exactly down with spoken-word, but the hip-hop is pretty damn slick. Backed by Keston & Westdal they played an hour set that ranged from straight spoken word to full out funky-ass hip hop, sprinkled with spoken word back by Keston & Westdal’s brand of knob twisting space techno.
Keston & Westdal
With Tim Glenn accompaning on drums, this set was reminiscent of the deep down and dirty sets at the Dinkytowner. Playing infront of a audience that was jammed into the Nomad, they broke it down for all (yalls).

As the taper guy told me, “These guys will blow your mind.” And they did. I saw the trumpet player play a conch shell and the sax player play some sort of digital theremin. Loud crazy noises that morphed to and from song that produced one interesting set.
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve even heard/read the word “theremin” since I was a music major. Wow.
And PLAYING a theramin… very sensual, in a nerdy sort of way. 😉
All of those shots are cool, but the last two are FUCKING SWEET. Can I say “fuck” here? Fuck, fuck, fuck.
Fuck.
You bet your fucking ass you can Jurgen – thanks.
DIGITAL(key word here) Theramin. Because it didn’t look like a normal one, it was just a box about the size of 2 CD cases on a stand.
sweet apple in the first shot. 🙂
I love the lighting effects in these!
thanks for posting something about the show. 🙂
wow. Your welcome – I love spreading the word.
I know what happened after the show. And it involved sandwiches.
